"I know I have first pick of the girls but I am undecided between Izzy and Spicy. I want a little girl that is not afraid of anything and that is curious and willing to learn. I think from the photos I am leaning towards Izzy. Her permanent name is to be Dinah. --Sheila"

RESPONSE:

"You just described both of these girls! They are not shy and timid, but not bullies either. Izzy has always stood out. My 16 yr old daughter says 'at anytime, anyone could look at all the pups and Izzy would stand out because of the way she looks at you'. She has always looked at us straight in the eyes and patiently waited for us to sit down, then she climbs up in our laps and is ready for love. When in the yard Izzy and Spicy are checking everything out, some of the pups hang back and huddle together, not these two girls. Izzy has a little white toe on the back foot which always helped us identify her when little and never failed - first one picked up when little would be her!

Spicy is a go getter also. She is just a little bit, very little bit, smaller than Izzy. She is personality plus. Usually one of the first to greet me and very anxious to climb up on me for her loving time. Both pups hold their own in the 'puppy wrestle matches', not wimps, but not bullies either. They are both precious and I am positive you will be happy with either.

Good luck picking the future DINAH :o) -- Debbie"

September 5, 2008 --

"Hi Debbie,
I've decided to choose Izzy to be my little girl! Also, I had some questions about shipping her. I know you'd like to ship her on the shortest flight. The most convenient airport for me to get to is in Fairbanks. It's a quick easy drive for me to get there. A two hundred mile drive on a mostly straight road. That is my preferred destination to pick her up at. Let me know what you think.
Thank you so much!!
--Sheila"

RESPONSE:

"Sheila,
Congrats on your pick! I am updating her page right now. Just so you know, I will be handling the flight. Debbie will be bringing Dinah to me this weekend. I will have to check on flight info and whether we can get a reasonable flight (regards to time for pup) to Fairbanks. When I get details worked out, I will let you know and also let you know what the total will be for shipping. Send Debbie the remainder for the pup fee. If you do so this week, check will be fine.
Talk soon!

"Hi,
I was wondering how you want me to go about picking out a puppy?
because I am in Alaska and can't meet them in person..
Thanks,
--Sheila"

RESPONSE:

"Sheila,
Debbie got your check yesterday - thx!
No prob on paying in more towards the pup. We appreciate your trust.

Picking out a pup from so far away may seem hard, but Debbie is already noting differences in the pups' personalities. I expect you will be able to make a pick around 4-5 weeks old and you will base it off pics, description both physical & personality, and gut feeling on your part. We will also be able to make recommendations based off what you tell us you are wanting. So far, no one has been disappointed. And, I deal with a lot of people from out of state, too :) Any questions/concerns you want addressed at anytime, just let us know!
--Laura

p.s. Attached a few pics taken with camera phone yesterday. Will get you some better ones by tomorrow!"

"Hi Laura,
How is Ellie's pregnancy going? I am getting more and more excited as her due date approaches. I am not sure how your wait list works but after waiting for so long to be in a good spot financially to get one of your puppies I really hope that I am accepted to get the little girl that I have impatiently been waiting for! Well, I just wanted to write and see how things are going. I hope all goes well with Ellie and her first litter. Also, I just had a question about the deposit. Do you accept personal checks or only money orders or cashiers checks?
Thank you,
--Sheila"

RESPONSE:

"Sheila,
Ellie is due ANY day now! Yes, consider yourself one to get a pup from her. She was xrayed this past week and she for sure has 9 pups, maybe 10. When she delivers and we know exactly gender/color of what she has, you will then send deposit. I will be having you send to the Watsons. For the deposit only, check is fine. Glad to hear you are excited! The Watsons are cc'd on this message just to keep them in the loop.
Talk soon!!
Laura"

July 26, 2008 -

"Sheila,
Ellie had the pups yesterday! I got real nervous as Debbie kept texting me everytime a pup arrived and the first 6 of 10 were males - ugh! Then she had the 4 girls (all black) - whew! So, now is the time to commit. The deposit is $200 and you need to mail it to Debbie.

BTW: The Watsons are very close family members, great people, and can be trusted 100%. No worries there! Let me know any questions/concerns you may have! Later! --Laura"

"Sheila,
Did you want the ear crop done here or have you found someone? I think it is better to have someone on your end that can do it around 10 weeks old, but my vet quite often does them at 7-1/2 weeks old for me. Let me know cuz I need to get reserved at vet's! I will forward you some new pics Debbie sent last night. Don't have them on site yet. I did get a lot of other pics on site, though.
Later,
Laura"

REPLY BACK:

"I'd like to get the ear crop done there cause I don't know of anyone here that does it. I really want someone who is experienced to do it. I really like Ellie's ears so if I could get that crop, that'd be cool. Thank you for all the pictures you have posted they are all so cute!!
Sheila"

FYI: I got your pup scheduled to crop. --Laura

June 7, 2006 -

"Hello,
My name is Sheila and I am interested in some day owning a Doberman Pinscher. I found your web site from the Puppyfind web site. I have a question that I hope you will be able to answer. In a newspaper that I read here there was an ad for Doberman puppies. The sire is claimed to be 112 pounds. That seems very large to me for a Doberman. He looks large compared to other photos I have seen of Dobermans (the owner e-mailed me photos of him). I have heard about the warlock myth and I read the little message you had at the bottom of your webpage. But, do you think that that is an unusual weight for a Doberman? I know I am putting you in an odd situation asking you this, but I just want to be informed of the decision I make. I think that your Dobermans are beautiful and what I would definitely want in one of my own. If you cannot answer my question I understand. Thank you -- Sheila"

RESPONSE:

"Sheila,
We have had some of our male pups reach 120 pounds. We do not breed for size, but our line tends to be on the larger end and some end up being out of the set standards for Dobermans. Pet owners like that .. show people don't. I am sure they are telling you the truth on the male's weight. Hope this helps!
Laura"

June 9, 2006 -

"Hi Laura,
After reading everything you have to say on your web site, I am just about positive that I would like to get my Doberman puppy from you. I just need to ask a couple questions. Are your rates flat rates? and why do you offer different prices for the different colors? That is different to me... and also for the ear cropping I am most interested in a show crop. Do I have to have it a medium crop? Do you know anyone in Alaska that does ear cropping? If not, I would be willing to wait extra time to have it done there. Thanks -- Sheila"

RESPONSE:

"Sheila,
I can definitely work with you to get the right pup for you. As for the ear crop, our vet here does lots of show dogs' ears, so no problem on that if that is the type of crop you want. Just realize that the longer and thinner the ear crop, the longer it will take the ear to stand. When it comes time to get the ears done, I would recommend that you send me some pictures of ears you like. I would then take those pics with me to the vet.

As for the pricing, yes the rates are flat. I price by how common the color is. Black is most common and that is why it is the lowest. Fawns and blues are not as common, especially for us because we are not trying to overbreed for these muted colors - thus, the higher price.

Shipping is set for the 48 contiguous states. I am not sure if there is an extra cost to fly to Alaska. And, it would have to be to a major airport to avoid as many layovers as possible.

Let me know what questions have popped up after reading this! --Laura"

June 12, 2006 -

"Laura,
I probably wouldn't be able to get a puppy until next spring, although fall would be best for me. I only work three days a week in the winter. Summer is my busiest season. I'd like a black/rust female. I have had her named for a couple years now. If I ever got a Doberman, her name would be Dinah.
--Sheila"

RESPONSE:

"We'll just keep you on the waiting list so you can receive updates as to what is available. When the time is right, just let me know and we'll go from there! Hang on to that name -- Good name!
Take care,
--Laura"

FYI: I am keeping you on Ellie's list - that one should be ready about the right time for you. When the litter is born is when the deposit will be due. I will keep you posted!
