March 25, 2010 -- "Debbie - Thank you so much for inviting us into your home this evening to look over all the puppies. You have such a lovely home and a beautiful family. You're son met us in the driveway with a sincere greeting and a firm handshake (always appreciated). And we were especially surprised when you're daughter offered us drinks for the ride home. It was an unexpected offering and we were most impressed with your children's manners and hospitality, as well as your own. After meeting the puppies it is obvious that you and your family genuinely care about them and have done an excellent job in raising them thus far. We also couldn't be happier with Pyro and Ellie. They were beautiful family members and very well mannered, caring parents. We are extremely excited to be picking up Chaos (Arrow) next Monday. Thank you for your time, effort, and devotion to your pups and your continued communication between Katie and I. Sincerely, Shawn & Katie.
March 22, 2010 -- "Debbie, Katie and I just returned from a short hiking trip to Arizona and were pleasantly surprised to find a whole slew of new puppy pictures. Thanks for taking the time to send out all the pictures, we enjoy every one!
I'm a little confused about picking out the puppy. From talking with Laura I was under the impression that we would be able to choose our puppy after seeing them in person. While the pictures of the pups are great, we were hoping to meet them before choosing one to see their temperament, personality, socialization, etc. Is there anyway for us to do this, or do we have to pick from pictures alone? Once again thanks for your time and communication with us. We look forward to hearing from you. --Shawn & Katie"
REPLY BACK: "Totally understand! Just trying to figure out timing. Just heard from Laura and she said she has to schedule Ear Croppings next week. The male pup going to 3rd pick is one of the pups getting his ears done and is shipping to Kansas. 2nd male pick is going to Houston area and will be picked up in Nacogdoches, so I will need to leave him here.
We will need to work out a time to get together this week. You are welcome to come here and see all the pups and Pyro and Ellie. With seven pups it honestly is going to be very hard to choose. If there are some you already know are not the ones you want, whether it's size or a certain look, then let's eliminate them. Let me know what will work for you --Debbie"
March 11, 2010 -- "Shawn and Katy, WOW! Thanks so much for all the information. I feel very secure with you providing a good home for one of our babies!!! Love the fact that you already know and love the doberman breed. I also think it's great that you will be adding a lab to your family that will be a good playmate for your Doberman. I could write pages and pages about the wonderful experiences we've had with our dobies. We absolutely LOVE the breed, their temperment, loyalty, and love. Pyro and Ellie are truly our babies and we work very hard to secure good homes for their puppies (which we get very attached to :o) .
You are a confirmed "Yes" for the 1st Black Male pick.
Thanks you, Debbie"
March 10, 2010 -- "Greetings, Thanks for the email, it's good to finally get to speak with you. My name is Shawn, and I live with my girlfriend Katie. We live in Denton (TX). Our backyard is fenced off with an 8 ft wooden fence with a side gate.
I am a Police Officer and have worked for the City of Lewisville as such for about 4 years now. Katie recently graduated college with her bachelors in Psychology and she is now back in school working towards her Masters.
We don't have any pets at this time, but Katie is really pushing for a black Lab soon after we get the Doberman. Katie was part of an organization called The Guide Dog Foundation. The Foundation would raise future guide dogs from when they are puppies, until they are about a year old. At that time the dogs are sent for formal training before they can be used as a working guide dog. Katie was part of the group that raised the dog early on. Her black lab, Cody, was at her side at all times. They were both together while Katie went to school, work, run errands, or any other activity . She taught him all the basics in obedience, house training, tricks, ect. As you can imagine she became very attached to Cody and was heart broken when he was sent back to the foundation. Katie also developed an intense love for the black Lab, which is why we will probably be getting one soon after the Doberman.
I fell in love with Doberman's at a very early age. My uncle had a black Doberman female when I was very young (around 3 years old) who was beautiful. I loved to visit my uncle and play with the dog, and developed a bond with her very quickly. Because I was so small she took care of me like I was one of her own puppies. She was very protective over me and would never let harm befall me. Since then my family has had dogs, but never a Doberman. I never forgot how much I loved the breed, and always wanted one for my own. I decided it would be best to wait until I had my own house, job, and the responsbility to take care of the pet.
Thanks so much for all the pictures of the puppies that we have been getting. Katie and I get excited when new pictures come in and we sit together and look through all of them with big smiles on our face. Since this is our first puppy together we have been "puppy proofing" the house in anticipation. We have been slowly gathering all the necessary supplies for the puppy to make the transition as smooth as possible. We are both very excited and can't wait until we can finally see the pups in person. We look forward to working with you and can't wait to see the puppies! - Shawn and Katie"
January 27, 2010 -- "Shawn, Just to make sure you understand, I will be placing the pups that are due. They are our bloodline, but not owned by us, the Garretts. To avoid being a puppy mill, I work with other breeders that share our puppy raising/handling ability and belief of socializing from day one. I get the pups at 7 weeks old. It is at that point the placement of pups begins. Look forward to working with you! Laura"
