August 18, 2007 - "I would like to plan on the blue female instead, but would like some questions that I have about the blue female answered.
In the past, how have any blue females coats held up?
How is the blue female looking structurally? I think she looks very pretty in the face and front markings, but can’t see her build very well.
Also, is she outgoing and friendly or is she shy? In the photos she appears kind of shy.
In regards to visiting, I was just planning to come the one time to pick her up and keep track of her via photos and emails between now and then. Can you or the breeder get her to the place you know to get her ears done prior to me picking her up? When will she be ready to go?" Kerstin
RESPONSE: "I will try to make notE of your questions and concerns tomorrow when I am out there. I have heard that blues tend to be more likely to have problems with the coat. I know blues from Pat's Guen have been fine. Being our first litter with Amber, I cannot say we have a model sibling to go off. Pics can be misleading sometimes in regards to how shy the pup is. None of the pups really wanted to take the individual pics that day. I had the camera in one hand and my other under the pups' chins trying to keep them from routing in the blanket. Imagine getting the pup's head up, pulling my hand back, and taking the pic almost all at once -- 20 times! Anyway, tomorrow I will try to follow them around the yard. This age is easier to capture personalities because they will be playing and running around. " --Laura
REPLY BACK: "Yes, you are right. I don’t have much experience with a blue and coat management (if there will be any), but I think she is beautiful in the face-very sweet looking. I’ll be interested to see pictures of her playing. Kerstin"
August 7, 2007 - "Hi there!
We are all getting excited about our new family member! My boys have decided where we will put her pen, picked out new blankets, bowls, food storage container, drinking fountain, collars, toys, and leash for her! Any updates on our baby girl? We are going to call her “Cayenne”, which will probably become “Cy” (hard “C”) for short. Our previous Dobe was called Chili, so we are going to stay in our pepper theme!
Also, just wanting to be able to map out a time frame so that I can plan weekend time to drive up there to pick her up. I would like you to get her ears done, like we had previously discussed. I don’t know what your policy is in regards to when you do them prior to owner pick up, so just let me know. I will plan to get her on a Saturday.
Thanks! Kerstin"
RESPONSE: "Name is too cute! And, I love that the kids are actively helping plan for her arrival!"
July 22, 2007 - "Okay. I will put a check in the mail tomorrow. At this point, I would like a black female. When pictures start coming, if nobody has selected a fawn or the blue and they look good, then I may change. Is that okay? Kerstin"
July 21, 2007 - "Tell me about the blue and the fawns in regards to how they are looking and what their initial dispositions seem to be. Kerstin"
RESPONSE: "It is way too early to tell much. I still haven't run out to see the pups yet. You really can't tell too much at this age. I prefer forming initial opinions at around 3 to 4 weeks. If you are interested in the fawn or blue color, we can just put you down as first picks on the fawns/blue."
July 16, 2007 - Pup Notice -- SUMMER PUPS are FINALLY HERE!!
Amber is a first-time mom -- and had 14 pups!? (Born 7/14) - Harley is the sire.
Polly also had a litter born 7/14 -- 6 pups total, same sire.
REPLY BACK: "I am still very interested in a female. First choice would be a black female, but like I have said before, confirmation, health, and disposition are more important to me than color. I am currently on vacation with my family in Seattle. I can get a check in the mail to you on Monday morning for a deposit." --Kerstin
RESPONSE: "Great! You have the two different mothers to consider. Amber is taller than Polly. Amber is very protective of the property when my kids and I show up to visit Pat and Don. But, she is always great with us once we are in the fence line. Polly is not as social to us as strangers. She doesn't bark at us as intensely as Amber does when we first show up. Polly's physical qualities are probably closer to the standards than Amber's. Both litters have the same sire. Let me know if you have any other questions."
July 8, 2007 - "Just checking to see if any babies have been born… "
RESPONSE: "No - Just realizing I have June posted on the site and it will actually be later this month before we have pups born to Amber."
May 21, 2007 - "I filled out an online application. I put that I would like a black/rust female, but I would also consider a red/rust female. I’m looking most for quality and correct conformation, healthy, and temperament, then color. I would like to have you have your vet crop ears - I don’t have anyone around here that does a very good job and I like the way your adult’s ears look. I do know how to take care of them - I took care of my last Dobe’s and my husband and I are both medical people, so keeping them healthy during the process is always on our minds.
I can’t wait to have a new Dobe…I’m really excited!" --Kerstin
RESPONSE: "I have you down as one of the first few I will contact for this summer's litters. When the first litter is born, I will notify all those on the list. We will then start the process of committing to picks of the litter (not made until 4 to 6 weeks old) and sending in deposits. Let's say you aren't happy with the first litter, then we will have the second litter to fall back on. Let me know if you need anything before the first litter arrives!" --Laura
REPLY BACK: "Okay. That sounds good."
May 20, 2007 - "Hello! I am interested in knowing more info about your upcoming litter of Dobie's. I am interested in a female. I have previously owned dobies, so I am not new to the breed; they are my favorite! I look forward to hearing from you. I live northwest of Austin.
Kerstin"
